Missing Mario Kart Racers

Nintendo has announced the final racers that will be coming to Mario Kart 8 Deluxe. The final characters will be added in the last wave of the Booster Pass DLC. This holiday season Mario KArt 8’s roster will be complete with the addition of Diddy Kong, Funky Kong, Pauline, and Peachette as playable racers. Mario Kart 8 has a massive roster but with these new additions it feels as if some characters have been forgotten. This list will cover five new additional characters that were missing from Mario Kart 8 Deluxe.

Toad Color Variations

Some characters in Mario Kart 8 have different color variations to choose from. Characters like Yoshi, Shy Guy, and Birdo have nine different colors to choose from. One character that should have gotten different colors to choose from that did not was Toad. There are many different colors of Toad, and the only playable character is the red toad. The other colors of toad are in the game, but they are not featured as playable characters. This would have been a great idea because Toad is a popular character just like Yoshi. With different colors of Toad multiple people can play as him. This feature was used in Mario Baseball and could have been implemented in this game.

Baby Wario

Dash’s release in 2002. Baby Mario, Luigi, Peach, Rosalina, and DK all have made an appearance in at least one Mario Kart entry. However, there is one baby version that has not been added as a playable character. Baby Wario first appeared in Yoshi’s Island DS in 2006 and has only appeared in one other game. This was 2020’s discontinued puzzle game, Dr. Mario World which was released as an app for iOS and Android. Baby Wario should have made a return as a playable racer in Mario Kart 8, because many are not familiar with this character, especially now that Dr. Mario World is unavailable to play.

Broodals

The next character that should have been added in Mario Kart 8 Deluxe comes in the form of four different characters. The Broodals are a villainous group of rabbits who first appeared in Super Mario Odyssey. Each character has their own fighting style and weapon that use when trying to defeat Mario. The Broodals consist of Spewart, Topper, Rango and Hariet, with Topper being the leader of the group. These characters are similar to the Koopa minions; Ludwig, Marton Roy etc. because they are the same size and shape which would make them racer similar between them.

Nabbit

Nabbit made his debut in New Super Mario Bros. U, in 2014. Nabbit is a thief who enjoys stealing items and filling his bag up. Adding Nabbit as a DLC character in Mario Kart 8 would have been a great move. Since his debut he has been in the dark until now. Nabbit is making his return in the new Super Mario Wonder game that releases in October. He will be a playable character in that title and Nintendo should have released him as a character in Kart to capitalize on the Nabbit craze that.

Captain Falcon

The final racer that should have beeen added in Mario Kart Deluxe is Captain Falcon. This one may seem out of place, but it makes perfect sense. Captain Falcon made his first appearance in F-Zero for the Super Nintendo in 1991. This high-speed racing game was widely popular and gained many sequels but has not been seen in some time. Captain Falcon is already a familiar face and fan favorite due to his appearances in the Super Smash Bros. franchise. Mario Kart 8 Deluxe already includes not one but two F-Zero inspired courses but has not added any F-Zero characters.
