New to NSO

New games have arrived for Nintendo Switch Online subscribers. Nintendo has just held their February Direct titled Partner Showcase. Here Nintendo showcased new titles that will be releasing on the Switch in the first half of the year. These titles were all third-party developers to be released in distribution of Nintendo. Many new titles were announced but one of the biggest announcements was during Rare’s showcase. Here Rare announced 5 titles to being added to the catalogue of games on NSO. The following are available now on the Switch through the virtual NES, SNES, and N64 consoles.

Killer Instinct

Originally released in arcades systems in October 1994, Killer Instinct was ported to the SNES the next year. This 2.5D fighting game was published by Rare and manufactured by Midway.  Fight your way to victory to win the tournament with 10 diverse and more graphically detailed characters than other games released at its time. Fight, build up ultra combos and finish your opponents off in this gruesome fighting game.

Snake Rattle N Roll

Snake Rattle and Roll was released for the NES in July 1990. In this game 2 snakes rattle and roll make their way through 11 isometric levels where the object is to eat enough “Nibbley Pibbles” to gain enough weight to ring a bell on top of a weighing machine located at the end of the level.  Players must maneuver the snake throughout the level attacking enemies and collecting food with their tongues.  As the snakes eat the length of their bodies grows.  If the snake is damaged, it loses a segment of its body.  When the body disappears, the player will lose a life. Each level contains different obstacles and enemies that the players must overcome to feed their snakes.

R.C. Pro-AM

Originally released on the NES in February 1988 RC Pro-Am is a single player racer presented in an overhead isometric perspective. It allows the user to control an RC car around 32 different tracks in vehicular combat. Use power-up items to improve performance, shoot missiles, and drop oil spills on your enemies in order to qualify for the next round.

Blast Corps

Rare’s first game for Nintendo 64 Blast Corps was released in March of 1997. Blast Corps a single player action game where the player uses vehicles to destroy buildings.  This game offers 57 different levels with 8 different vehicles to choose from including a bulldozer, dump truck, buggy, tricycle and more.

BattleToads in Battlemniacs

Battle Toads in Battlemaniacs is a side scroller beat ‘em up game that follows Rash and Pimple on their quest to stop Silas Volkmire and the evil Dark Queen.  Released in June 1993 for the SNES, this game features enhanced or remixed versions of levels from the original battle toads.  Each of the six levels has its own special type of gameplay that includes racing and battling as well as bonus stages.
