New Mario Sports Game Coming to Switch?

Mario is no stranger to sports games and Nintendo has not been shied to release sequels to Mario sports games on the switch. Mario sports games are great games to play with groups of people where you can compete against your friends in fast paced arcade style sports. Within the Switch’s lifespan so far Nintendo has released Mario Tennis Aces (2018) Mario Strikers: Battle League (2022), Mario Golf: Super Rush (2021), as well as the Mario and Sonic at the Olympic Games series. These titles have sold quite well and are very popular among gamers. With the end of the Nintendo Switches life coming to an end soon will there be another Mario Sports game released? 

If there were to be a new Mario sports gamer coming to the switch Mario Baseball would be the one that would be released. Mario Superstar Baseball was originally released for the GameCube in 2005 and received a sequel on the Wii, Super Mario Sluggers in 2008. The sequel offered motion controllers as well as a non-motion feature. The Nintendo switch offers motion controls as well and has been used in the previously mentioned Mario sports games which can be utilized in Mario Baseball. Nintendo recently released Switch Sports for the Nintendo Switch. This sports game includes familiar games from the Wii Sports and Wii Sports Resorts games, but Baseball is missing from the lists of games. The reason for this could be because Switch has been offering updates that add new sports and baseball will be coming to that soon, but I do not believe that is the case. I believe that baseball was not added because Mario Baseball will be the game that utilizes baseball motion controls to sell more copies.  

Mario Baseball games have always offered a wide variety of characters that you can play on your team. This included major characters as well as secondary and more minor characters. The last Mario baseball game came out for the Wii and there have been many new characters added to the Mario world who can be used in this game. Some of these characters that could be included are Bowser Jr.’s friends (Ludwig, Morton, Iggy, Larry, Roy, Lemmy, and Wendy") as well as some of the new characters added in Super Mario Odyssey like the New Donkers, Goombettes, Tostarenans, and Pauline, to name a few.
