Antman: Quantmania Review

Marvel Studio’s Antman & The Wasp: Quantomania starring Paul Rudd as Scott Lang/Antman and Evangeline as Hope Van Dyne/The Wasp was released in theaters on February 18, 2023. Alongside Rudd and Evangline this film starts Michael Douglas as Hank Pym, Michelle Pfieffer as Janet Van Dyne, and Kathryn Newton as Cassie Lang. This is the third installment of the Antman takes the characters to the Quantum Realm where they meet Kang the Conqueror and must find a way out of the realm while trying to stop Kangs evil plan.

This film is used as an introduction to the villain of Marvel’s next phase, the Multiverse Sage, Kang the Conquer who is played by Johnathon Majors. Johnathon Majors made his debut in the Disney+ series Loki, where he plays “He Who Remains”, a Kang variant who is all knowing. The Kang in this film is a Kang variant who has been exiled to the Quantum Realm, where he must spend the rest of eternity. Major’s plays a cold calculating villain in which he uses and manipulates people to achieve his goals of eliminating all other timelines.

The Quantum Realm is depicted in this movie very beautifully by having many bright colors along with dark space storms. The CGI effects are quite nice in this film, however compared to other big budget movies there is a dramatic difference. Marvel Studios pumps out a lot of content and does not seem to be letting up which could allow for the lack of time spent on these projects, but it is clear in this film and many other titles that the CGI is the low point of their productions.

In the end Antman and the Wasp: Quantomania is an all build up film for the next Avengers film “Kang Dynasty” When the film is not focused on Kang the film comes across as a knock off Star Wars film. That is not to say this is a bad film by no means, it just seems that This film promised more than it gave us, and return gave us cheesy space humor that felt forced.
