Oracle Games available Now

Nintendo has just released two additional games to the Gameboy Color emulator on the Nintendo Switch.  Players who are subscribed to the Nintendo Switch Online Expansion pack now have access to both The Legend of Zelda: Oracle of Ages and The Legend of Zelda Oracle of seasons.

Oracle of Seasons/Ages

The Oracle games were both released on the same day in 2001 for Gameboy Color.  The gameplay is similar to Link’s awakening for the Gameboy by sharing the same controls, graphics, and sounds. After the player completes one of the titles, they will receive a code that will be used in the other one.  If the player inputs this code and completes the second game, they will receive access to additional content for the ultimate adventure.

In Oracle of Seasons the Triforce calls out to Link within Hyrule Castle and upon approaching it he is transported to the world of Holodrum.  Upon arrival he encounters Din, the Oracle of Seasons, as she is taken into the by the General of Darkness, Onox.   Din is sealed in a crystal which causes the season of Holodrum to change rapidly. Link must retrieve the eight essences from the dungeons throughout Holodrum and the underworld, Subrosia in order to enter Onox’s Castle and save Din.

Similar to Seasons, Oracle of Ages sees the triforce call out to Link in Hyrule Castle.  However, the Triforce transports Link to the land of Labrynna instead of Holodrum.  Upon meeting Nayru, the Oracle of Ages, a shadow emerges.  The Sorceress if Shadows, Veran possesses Nayru and disrupts the flow of time.  Link must retrieve the eight Essences that are hidden in dungeons scattered throughout Labrynna’s past and present.  After obtaining the eight Essences Link is allowed to enter Veran’s Black Tower and save Nayru.

The Oracle games have many similarities when it comes to gamer play and map layout, but they also have some differences as well.  The Oracle of Ages is more puzzle based when it comes to defeating levels.  Ages features some of the most challenging dungeons in the series.  The Oracle of Seasons on the other hand focuses on combat as its main priority.  Seasons offers the most combat items to be featured in a 2D title and many memorable boss battles in the dungeons.
