New to Pokémon Scarlett/Violet

Pokémon Scarlet and Pokémon Violet were released on November 18, 2022, for the Nintendo Switch.  This Role-Playing Adventure game was developed by Game Freak and published both Nintendo and the Pokémon Company.  This installment is similar to that of Pokémon Sword and Pokémon Shield where the player travels through the open world capturing Pokémon that they see in the wild.  In addition to this Violet/Scarlet offers three different stories that the player can venture through in order to become a Pokémon master.

The Pokémon Company held a presentation this past week showing off everything Pokémon that will be coming out.  These included new games, DLC, and new TV shows. The biggest announcement that was held was saved for last.  This was everything that was going to be added to Pokémon Scarlet/Violet in the upcoming months.

The first thing that will be coming to Pokémon Scarlett/Violet comes is the form of the “Add Mew and Mewtwo” event.  From Friday September 1st, 2023 through Sunday September 17th Mewtwo will be appearing in special terra raid battle events.  Prior to this event players can receive their free Mew. Starting now if you type the code “GETYOURMEW” into the mystery box you will receive a Mew.  Each Mew will vary in stats and terra form.

Pokémon Scarlett/Violet’s first wave of DLC is called “The Hidden Treasure of Area Zero” and will be released in two parts; “The Teal Mask” which will be available on September 13 and the “Indigo Disk” releasing in the Winter later this year.

“The Teal Mask” takes the player on a school field trip to the land of Kitakami.  The setting of Kitakami has a Feudal Japanese vibe to it. This DLC offers two different stories to it.  First the player will help new characters Carmine and Kieran from Blueberry Academy as they learn about the legendary Pokémon; Okidogi, Munkidori, and Fezandipiti.  In the second story the player must help a photographer named Perrin.  She is looking for photos of Pokémon that will appear in the region. With this new story the player will receive a Rotoscope which is a selfie stick. It allows for different ways of taking photos with your Pokémon and friends.  This story will help you discover all of the Pokémon that do not appear in Paldae Region.  One Kitakami exclusive Pokémon is Dipplin.  A new form of the apple Pokémon Applin. The final thing that the Teal Mask offers are Minigames. Once completing the minigames, the player will recieve items which can be used to boost your pokemon’s stats.

The “Indigo Disk” is the second part to “The Hidden Treasure of Area Zero” DLC. Here the player will travel to your sister school, the Blueberry Academy.  This big dome lies almost all underwater and is separated into different ecosystems.  Here the player can travel to each biome in order to catch new forms of past Pokémon like Archelon, as well as brand new ones.  Blueberry Academy offers exclusive classes that the player can attend when not catching Pokémon. Rather than victory Road the Indigo Disk offers the BB League.  The player must complete challenges in order to battle the trainers in the BB league.  Atop of the trainers stand the elite four.  The final thing that Indigo Disk offers is the League Clubhouse.  Here the players can decorate their clubhouse and edit their character.
